Backups and automatic updates

Keep your extensions up to date automatically – every update is checked before and after installation; if something breaks, the previous version is restored automatically. Each updated extension can also be rolled back with one click. Off by default.

at Grace period

Applies to the selected extensions below; security updates always run immediately (regardless of schedule and grace period). Grace period: waits the chosen number of days before auto-installing a new update – protection against compromised/broken releases.

Honest limit: Joomla does not cryptographically sign third-party packages (only HTTPS source + SHA checksum from the update XML). Unattended auto-update therefore relies on the update servers staying secure. A full host/Akeeba backup remains the gold recommendation.
